The Beach Boys'
California State Historical Landmark in Hawthorn, is to be
officially dedicated Friday May 20, 2005 at 1:00pm in
Hawthorne near the site of the original childhood home of the
Beach Boys. The monument will be located in the 3700 block of
West 119th Street, Hawthorne, CA. In order to cement The
Rockits' legacy with their heros in perpetuity, an 8" X 8"
brick plaque will be placed on the monument memorializing
Steve Hager and Larry Duffy's legendary trek to Hawthorne, to
retrieve the famous "tablets" from the field. It will be
inscribed to read:
"The Tablets Live On
Steve, Larry and
THE ROCKITS"
This is not a Rockits gig, but some of The Rockits will be
making the pilgrimage to the dedication ceremony this Friday
at 1pm. Join us and be part of history.

CHILDHOOD HOME OF THE BEACH BOYS
IT WAS HERE IN THE HOME OF PARENTS MURRY AND AUDREE THAT
BRIAN, DENNIS, AND CARL WILSON GREW TO MANHOOD AND DEVELOPED
THEIR MUSICAL SKILLS. DURING LABOR DAY WEEKEND 1961, THEY,
WITH COUSIN MIKE LOVE AND FRIEND AL JARDINE, GATHERED HERE TO
RECORD A TAPE OF THEIR BREAKTHROUGH SONG "SURFIN'." THIS
MARKED THE BIRTH OF THE ROCK GROUP KNOWN WORLDWIDE AS THE
BEACH BOYS, AND THE BEGINNING OF AN HISTORIC MUSICAL LEGACY
THAT WOULD CHANGE THE RECORDING INDUSTRY. THE MUSIC OF THE
WILSONS, LOVE, JARDINE, AND FRIEND DAVID MARKS BROADCAST TO
THE WORLD AN IMAGE OF CALIFORNIA AS A PLACE OF SUN, SURF, AND
ROMANCE. BRIAN WILSON WOULD BECOME A LEGENDARY PRODUCER,
ARRANGER, AND SONGWRITER.

The
Rockits gig last night was an event never seen at the Chasers
Lounge. The place was packed (I mean over capacity), the
band was good and we rocked to a full house all night. No
one wanted to leave.
